Jabulile Gwala is the Founder and CEO of Blac Lyon, a holding company housing Africa’s first Nguni print inspired athleisure wear Siko Republik and the women empowerment platform called In Good Company who’s mission is to contribute to Building the Africa of tomorrow. The company also has a communications brand which manages all brand partnerships, influencer marketing strategies and brand building experiences.
She has built a strong woman movement from the ground up which led her to honouring the continent’s most inspiring women who have been champions for gender equality & inclusivity for decades like the United Nations Women Executive Director, Dr Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Africa’s Princess Dr Yvonne Chaka Chaka and 2021 saw her honoring the Minister of South African Tourism: Hon Lindiwe Sisulu and the internationally awarded Thuso Mbedu while creating money can’t buy experiences where women like Nomzamo Mbatha, Thandiswa Mazwai, Unathi Nkayi, Amanda Dambuza, Enhlembali Maphumulo, LeAnne Dlamini, Dineo Langa, Mosilo Mothepu and many other powerhouses have shared their views on issues of progressive feminity. She was also one of the pioneers who engaged male leadership like Nelson Makamo, Tebogo Malope, Laduma Ngxokolo, Mzamo Masito, Hakeem Anderson-Lesolang, Kutlwano Ditsele, Greg Maloka and many more, and encouraged them to listen deeply to the issues faced by women in their respective industries in SA with the ask for them to be part of the change.
Her hard work and pursuit for creating a safe space for ideas generation and sharing in the African Diaspora resulted in her hosting the award winning international producer and actress Issa Rae (2018) and having a progressive dialogue about femininity with Hollywood A-lister Taraji P Henson.
She has worked on partnerships with power brands like Brand South Africa, DStv, Dark & Lovely, Mall of Africa, Miss South Africa, Maybelline, Tanqueray and many more. She is also a Brand South Africa Play your Part Ambassador and does community development work through her IGC Craft your career campaign focused on schools.
